Composite Plastic Shoeing
In my opinion, barefoot is always better for the horse. Booted is better, but barefoot is best. There may be occasions and certain horse/rider/owner combinations that are better suited towards a nail or glue on shoe. Really, these are more for the convenience of the rider/owner. Nails invite infection and thrush into hoof walls that have been often painstakingly trimmed for function over time and I'd be lying if I said I didn't die a little inside when I have to drive nails into a tightly connected, healthy wall. That being said, these shoes are intended for use in healthy feet only as an alternative to boots that rub or owners who are unable to use them for whatever reason. They are not intended for corrective work. |
